Biographical Note

Harriet Bevier F-467 was born to Zenus William Bevier E-381 and Eliza Hall on Aug. 8, 1841, in the town of Goosetown in Broome County, New York. Sometime between 1847 and 1850 she moved with the rest of her family to Evansville, Wisconsin. On October 1, 1863 she married John August Urion, a native of Viviers-les-Offricourt, France. They had six children. Harriet died on March 5, 1909 (1).

Collection Description

The collection includes autograph, poetry and prayer books, a photograph album, and one letter (in French) of Harriet A. Bevier Urion and her daughter Zilla Urion G-433 (1870-1903). The photograph album contains both identified and unidentified photographs dating from the late 19th century of the Urion and Bevier families. Most of these photographs are probably carbon or collodion photographic prints. Also of note in the collection is a letter written in French to Zilla Urion from her cousin Angela Urion in Rouvres-en-Haintois, France. This letter describes the members of Angela Urion's family and discusses Zilla's failing health and a possible trip to France. A rough English translation of this letter is available upon request. Further descriptions of each item are also available.

This collection was formerly known as the Zenus Bevier Family Papers. In addition, a photograph of Jean August Urion and Harriet Bevier, taken ca. 1895 is maintained in the Huguenot Historical Society Photograph Collection (See HHS Archives Accession #1999.05).
