Historic Huguenot Street Awarded Grant from
New York State Consolidated Funding (CFA)

NEW PALTZ, NY (December 20, 2018) – Historic Huguenot Street is pleased to announce that it has been selected for an award of $37,000 from New York State through the Consolidated Funding Application process, or CFA. Funding provided through Empire State Development (ESD) will be used for the creation of a master site plan for the museum. As Historic Huguenot Street grows each year in visitation, inclusivity, and public offerings, a master site plan is vital to ensuring that it uses its resources in the most effective and sustainable way. 

After seven successful rounds, the 2018 CFA made over $750 million in economic development resources available from more than 30 programs across 10 state agencies. The agency's programs provide resources for projects focused on community development and job creation, tourism, waterfront revitalization, energy and environmental improvements, sustainability, and low-cost financing. Empire State Development is proud to have contributed more than $242 million to this year's Consolidated Funding Application.

Specifically, goals for the master site plan include improving visitor experience and access, increasing the site’s appeal as an international destination, increasing staff interaction and efficiency, long-term financial sustainability, and improving environmental sustainability.

The planning process will consider the history and evolution of the site, the current landscape and the needs and plans of our neighbors and visitors, public access to collections, visitor services, site access; parking, programming and research spaces, vehicular and pedestrian traffic patterns, topography, collections storage, environmental controls, technology and communications, and outdoor spaces for events, programs, and public use.

In 2011, Governor Cuomo launched the Regional Economic Development Councils and the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) to provide each region with the tools to create and implement their own roadmap for economic prosperity and job creation. This community-based model uses local assets to drive local economic growth and has resulted in unprecedented partnerships and collaboration that are building a reinvigorated economy. 

About Historic Huguenot Street
A National Historic Landmark District, Historic Huguenot Street is a 501(c)3 non-profit that encompasses 30 buildings across 10 acres comprising the heart of the original 1678 New Paltz settlement, including seven stone houses dating to the early eighteenth century.  Historic Huguenot Street was founded in 1894 as the Huguenot Patriotic, Historical, and Monumental Society to preserve the nationally acclaimed collection of stone houses.  Since then, Historic Huguenot Street has grown into an innovative museum, chartered as an educational corporation by the University of the State of New York Department of Education that is dedicated to protecting our historic buildings, preserving an important collection of artifacts and manuscripts, and promoting the stories of the Huguenot Street families from the seventeenth century to today.
